Where did the time go!

I’m been blessed to be starting - in 2008 – my 21st year as an on-air personality in broadcast television.

I’m currently the weekend sports anchor/reporter at KABC-TV in Los Angeles, CA.  When I arrived at ABC 7 in the summer of 1999 – I jumped in the fast lane of sports success in the Southland.

In that time – I’ve covered the Lakers in five NBA Championships (winning three and losing two) - USC playing in five consecutive BCS title games – and winning two National Championships, the Angels winning the World Series, UCLA playing at three consecutive Final Fours in Basketball, the Ducks in two Stanley Cup Finals – winning one – covering  three Super Bowls – and who can forget the Sparks winning the WNBA title!

But make no mistake – writing a weekly coach of the week segment can be just as rewarding.

After graduating from Metro State College in Denver in 1986, I landed my first job five months later in big-bad Grand Junction Colorado - market size 187. Yes, it was the school of hard-knocks. Since then, I’ve worked at 7 other TV stations, in other markets such as Denver and San Diego.

I’m fortunate to have won three Emmy’s in my career. While television sports constantly changes  - it’s meeting some of this country’s most unique and talented people that inspires me. Sure - it’s awesome getting paid to cover sports. But “telling stories” is a gift I try to display on the set – or in the field as a reporter.
